Ladies Teams

Game Summaries - September 21, 2008

Bombastic B vs. North Shore Sharks
The B team met probably there toughest competition of the season so far and lost 1 - 0. We were outplayed in the first half and went down one goal. Lindsay Rolfe was outstanding in goal and kept it close for us. The second was much better and Bombastic generated some good scoring chances but couldn't come up with the equalizer. Player of the Game: Lindsay Rolfe.
Bombastic A vs. Wickham FC
The A team are clearly showing that they belong in Div 1, however for the second game in row we didn't get a result despite some good play, losing 3-1. Wickham probably deserved a 2-1 halftime lead although the Bombastic goal headed in by Sharon "Shaz" Buchanan was very nice. Bombastic dominated the second half but couldn't get anything past their keeper (we had one goal called back for offside to the mystery of everyone except the referee). Wickham added a late goal. Player of the Game: Andrea Bava who was solid on defense.

Game Summaries - September 14, 2008

Well, both teams ran into some good goalkeeping this week and couldn't come up any points, despite some really good play. The focus for next weekend is to play well for a full 90 minutes as both teams sagged a bit in the second half. I think it's becoming clear that for both teams the wins are there to be had and that every game will be competitve. It doesn't matter who we are playing; it matters how we play.
The A team lost 2-1 to WCFC Strikers after leading 1-0 at the half. Hayley Watson opened the scoreing with a brilliant volley and almost added a second on a 25 yard effort that was tipped over the bar by the opposing keeper. The Strikers scored 2 goals early in the second half and we couldn't get another past their keeper despite 3 or 4 good chances. Player of the game: Hayley Watson.
The B team lost 3-1 to NSGSC Foxes. It was 0-0 after a 1st half that was completly dominated by Bombastic (our keeper touching the ball twice). The Foxes came out a completely different team in the second half and scored 2 goals before we knew what hit us. We woke up and really started to apply some pressure and Charlotte Kitsner pulled one goal back making the game exciting. Their keeper made some really good saves and they added another on a late fast break as we were pressing to get the tie. Player of the game: Lisa Glowacki who was outstanding on defence.

B's vs. NSGS Legend ended in a 1-1 draw. Bombastic's goal scored by Kim Willey - some great goalkeeping by Charlotte Kistner. Player of the game: Cathy Doucet.
A's vs. Squamish. A's picked up their first win in Div 1 with a very well deserved 3-2 victory. Goals by Kira (roo) Sanger and 2 from Freddy Bell, including the winner only a few seconds from the final whistle. Lindsay Rolfe's solid stops kept us in the game early, and the whole squad played a solid game with some pretty passing. Player of the game: Freddy Bell
