Ladies Teams

Game Summaries - September 14, 2008

Well, both teams ran into some good goalkeeping this week and couldn't come up any points, despite some really good play. The focus for next weekend is to play well for a full 90 minutes as both teams sagged a bit in the second half. I think it's becoming clear that for both teams the wins are there to be had and that every game will be competitve. It doesn't matter who we are playing; it matters how we play.
The A team lost 2-1 to WCFC Strikers after leading 1-0 at the half. Hayley Watson opened the scoreing with a brilliant volley and almost added a second on a 25 yard effort that was tipped over the bar by the opposing keeper. The Strikers scored 2 goals early in the second half and we couldn't get another past their keeper despite 3 or 4 good chances. Player of the game: Hayley Watson.
The B team lost 3-1 to NSGSC Foxes. It was 0-0 after a 1st half that was completly dominated by Bombastic (our keeper touching the ball twice). The Foxes came out a completely different team in the second half and scored 2 goals before we knew what hit us. We woke up and really started to apply some pressure and Charlotte Kitsner pulled one goal back making the game exciting. Their keeper made some really good saves and they added another on a late fast break as we were pressing to get the tie. Player of the game: Lisa Glowacki who was outstanding on defence.
