Game Summaries - January 25, 2009

Bombastic A defeated NSGSC Red Sox A 2 - 0 last night in the freezing cold at Ambleside. Earlier this season the Red Sox beat us 3-1 so this really was an excellent win. The first half was well played with Bombastic carrying the play for the most, but it ended 0-0. The second half was a bit more wide open. In what can only be described as a colossal mistake, we took the lead when a pass back to their keeper went horribly wrong (Own Goal). We'll take it, we've had our share of bad bounces over the season. The Red Sox began to press a bit after that (although we had our chances to), but Hayley Watson flicked on a long through ball to Kira Sanger who finished beautifully for our 2-0 lead. Like last week a strong game by all. Claire Hatcher played really smart at sweeper and the Red Sox rarely threatened; Chloe Handley was solid in net; Kira had a really strong game. Player of the game: Emily Jones who played wide right, got stuck in, and ran at their defence all game - giving them fits.

Game Summary - January 18, 1009

In the sun and the fog Bombastic A played NSGSC V.O. to a 1-1 tie on Sunday. Bombastic played a great game against a good team. The game was pretty defensive with only a few scoring chances each way. One of those came in the first minute, and Bombastic took an early lead on a goal by Sharon (Shaz) Buchanan. In the second half, V.O. began to press and our defence held up well until the final moments before they tied it up. Heartbreaking for sure, but probably a fair result on the day. Overall a great effort by Bombastic - especially considering our considerable layoff - with some really great team play. Strong games from everyone with nods to Kim Carruthers, Christina Lazeski, Tricia McNorton and Player of the game: Mary Ellen (Mel) Glover.

Game Summary - December 7, 2008

The B team scored some goals and won for the first time this year, beating the NS Rage 6-0! The Rage played short-handed, but we played very well especially in the second half. Goals by Cathy Doucet, Charlotte Kistner, Theresa Webber, Kim Wiley, Mary Ellen Glover, and Lindsay Rolfe. Player of the game Theresa Webber. Well done B team.
