Ladies Teams

We are the champions

Bombastic B won 1-0 against the Aldergrove Reign in the Cup championship finals at Surrey Athletic Park.

Game Summary from Hugh:
The Bombastic B Ladies concluded a perfect season by winning the final of the MWSL Div 4 Gold Cup with a 1-0 win over the Aldergrove Reign. The Cup victory added to our League title, completed the 'double', and Bombastic finished unbeaten and untied with an overall 18 - 0 - 0 record! On Sunday we played one of our best first halves of the season and were very unlucky to only be up 1-0. Bombastic was in total control from the opening whistle. The second was not quite up to the first, but - previously unbeaten - Aldergrove really only had one scoring chance in the whole game (coming quite nerve wrackingly in the 80th minute) while we had numerous chances. Aldergrove's keeper was their best player and kept them in the game. Congrats to the whole team - including those who couldn't make the final and those who were injured. Everyone contributed to the team's great success this year. Well done team - it's off to Div 3 to see if we can move up 2 divisions in two years!

Goes to the whole team this week - everyone played great - too many standouts!

Special thanks to our fans who made the trek early in the morning to cheer us on.

We did it!

B Game Cup Summary - March 20, 2011

Bombastic B won 2-0 against NSGSC Sters at Andy Livingstone turf in semifinal Cup play.

Game Summary from Hugh:
Bombastic B played a great game and won their semi-final 2-0 over NSGSC Sters. We got a goal in each half, the first on a free kick from about 25 yards out by Brooke and the second on great passing play starting in our own half - Stephanie to Marion to Marta to Ana. The NSGSC Sters started strong, and it looked like we would be in for a tough game. Jana had a great 1st half, and her strong play really started to change the direction of the play as she stepped up and won loose balls and punched the ball back into the opponent's half. Eventually the other team wore down (as have a lot of our opponents in the last few weeks). There were lots of great performances. Now it's off to the finals!!

Brooke - 1

B Game Cup Summary - March 12, 2011

Bombastic B won 5-1 against Vancouver Reign at Van Tech turf in quarterfinal Cup play.

Game Summary from Hugh:
Bombastic B rocketed into the semi finals of the cup with a very impressive 5 - 1 victory over the Vancouver Reign - a team we had narrowly beat 1-0 twice before this season. The game was much closer than the score indicates - well at least for the first half. Bombastic started quickly, as we knew that the Reign would be pumped for the game, and Marta scored a great "turn and shoot low" goal to open the scoring. This seemed to fire up the opposition and the reign carried the play for the next 15 minutes, scored, and had a few chances to actually take the lead (including one missed open net). At about 30 minutes, Bombastic's defense said "enough of this" and tightened up, and with the ball on in the right half of the field Marta scored again and Marion added another before the half. The second half was all Bombastic as we really seemed to tire and take the spirit out of the opposition. What really wins these games for us is the fact that we are solid throughout the line-up - at every position - so by the second half the opposition are tired of having to win battle after battle just to get the ball out of their half. Again a great team effort.

B Cup Game Summary - March 5, 2011

Bombastic B won 2-0 against Vancouver Chill at Van Tech turf in Cup play.

Game Summary from Hugh:
Bombastic B went 3 and 0 in the cup by beating Vancouver Chill for for the 3rd time this year 2-0. As usual, the Chill were tough competition. The first half featured close calls at both ends but no goals. Bombastic really regrouped well at half time and dominated the second half - scoring twice. Both goals came of off great corners by Brooke and headers (yay!) by Yasmina and Ana. Again it was real team effort with everyone competing hard and contributing to the win.

Goals:
Yas - 1
Vancouver Chill own goal
