Bombastic B Game - December 6, 2011
Bombastic B won 1-0 against the Rovers at Van Tech turf.
Game Summary from Hugh:
The Bombastic B women won 1-0 against a feisty Rovers team in midweek night game on Tuesday. After an initial 10 minutes where the play was fairly even with neither team creating a great scoring chance, Bombastic started to take over. At about 20 minutes, a long shot was only partially stopped by their keeper and Amy was in the right place at right time to poke home the loose ball. I think many of us thought that there would be more goals to come. Bombastic dominated the rest of the game, but the Rovers played hard for the full 90 minutes and we could not get another goal. As usual, our defence was outstanding, and even though we were only up a goal, coach was not very worried that they would tie it up – they rarely threatened our goal. In the second half we created more chances but when we had a slight opportunity we were pressured by their clingy defence and often we did not get the hard low shot we are looking for. A good solid effort.

Three stars of the game:
1. Fiona Morris – great ball control and effort at right back – played the full 90 minutes and was the source of a lot of our offence hooking up with Marion and Megan in the second half
2. Amy Liu – scored the winning goal, but also did a lot of good things up front – goes to the areas where goals are scored
3. Marion/Megan (can’t choose) both played great down the wing, providing a lot of good crosses into the penalty box
