B Cup Game Summary - February 19, 2011

Bombastic B won 2-0 against SBAA Sol at Van Tech turf in Cup play.

Game Summary from Hugh:
Bombastic B beat the SBAA Sol 2-0 on Saturday to keep our perfect record and move to 2 and 0 in our cup pool. It was maybe one of our best games of the year. Missing a few key regulars, everyone stepped up and we didn't miss a beat. We got a goal in each half, and as usual - especially in the second half - most of the action was in the other team's end. There were some really solid efforts. Kara and Alexis were solid in the center of midfield (and Amy played well in there too) and Marion worked great with Stephanie and Alexis down the right side of the pitch. Christina filled in at stopper and played great. Amber had some work to do too and made a couple of good saves and came out of her net really well to thwart their attacks. Oh, and Jana worked really hard - especially in the first half - to help us get another clean sheet.

B Cup Game Summary - February 12, 2011

Bombastic B won 2-0 against Poco Wild at Van Tech turf in Cup play.

Game Summary from Hugh:
Bombastic B opened their cup competition with an impressive 2-0 win over the Poco Wild. For a change we scored early: Brooke's awesome goal kick took the Wild's defense by surprise and bounced well into their half where Marta pounced on the opportunity - like a good striker does - and scored a beauty on a breakaway. From there we continued to carry the play, but didn't get our second goal till midway though the second half. Our defense was stellar as usual, and Poco really only had a couple chances in the game. What was particularly impressive was the overall teamwork and camaraderie of the whole squad - fun to watch.

B Game Summary - February 8, 2011

Bombastic B won 1-0 against Vancouver Reign at Van Tech turf.

Game Summary from Hugh:
After almost two months without a game, Bombastic B went to 12-0-0 with an impressive 1-0 win over a very good Vancouver Reign team (who recently beat Ladner 5-1 and had not lost in their last six games). The first half was fairly close - both teams had some quality chances - but Bombastic persevered on a loose ball at the end of the half that finally poked in for a 1-0 lead. We were not unlucky but a break here and there and the score easily could have been the other way around. The second half was much better and even though we didn't score, Bombastic really carried the play. The difference was our desire to be first to ball - a very good example of good offense translating to good defense as the opposition rarely had the ball for very long. When we did break down, our last line of defense and our goalkeeping was solid.
